The Boise State University Department of Music is pleased to present the 18th annual Gene Harris Jazz Festival, Wednesday-Thursday, April 1-2, 2015 in the BSU Student Union Building.

This year's festival is founded upon jazz educational activities, supported by a great lineup of jazz artists, educator-adjudicators, and clinicians.

Our artistic theme is focused on the "big band" including Idaho and Oregon student big bands, the Boise State Jazz Ensemble, and the Gene Harris Festival SuperBand—comprising jazz all-stars from around the country and featuring our:

 One of the most frequently heard trumpet players in the world!

  • Performed, recorded, and toured with the big bands of Maynard Ferguson, Gordon Goodwin, Quincy Jones, Arturo Sandoval, Sammy Nestico, Bob Curnow, and many others
  • Also has performed with Ray Charles, Green Day, Beyonce, Diana Krall, Michael Bolton, Barry Manilow, Michael Buble, Natalie Cole, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, and many more
  • Can be heard on over 300 television and movie soundtracks, including Catch Me If You Can, Anchorman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Superman Returns, Spiderman, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, the Grammy Awards, American Idol, the Academy Awards, Ratatouille, Star Trek, and the Incredibles
  • Has recorded three of his own albums, including a 2004 Grammy Nomination for "You Call This a Living?"
  • Featured artist and educator for the Yamaha Corporation, and has co-designed one of their trumpets and flugelhorns

8 pm, Gene Harris Festival Superband w/Wayne Bergeron performs ~ Student Union Special Events Center
